
SIX: TEEN EDITION – COSTUME DESIGN CONTEST RULES
OVERVIEW
Courage Theatre, in partnership with Granite School District, invites students to design a Broadway-inspired costume for one of the queens in Six: Teen Edition. Selected designs may be brought to life on stage.
ELIGIBILITY

Open to all students (K–12 and college-age students still enrolled)

Students inside and outside Granite School District are welcome

Individual entries only (no group submissions)
DESIGN REQUIREMENTS
Each submission must include:

Chosen Queen
-
Indicate which queen your design represents
-

Costume Design
-
Original design inspired by Six: The Musical
-
Must reflect the modern pop/Broadway style of the show

Submission Format (choose one):

Hand-drawn sketch (clear and labeled)
-
Digital rendering if possible (AI, Photoshop)

Photo of physical mock-up
-

Design Notes (REQUIRED)

3–5 sentences explaining:

Inspiration
-
Fabric choices
-
Color palette
-
How it reflects the queen’s personality
-

IMPORTANT GUIDELINES
-
Designs must be original work
-
No copying or tracing official Broadway costumes
-
Must be school-appropriate
-
Must be constructible (can realistically be built for stage)
-
Avoid excessive complexity that would be unsafe or impractical
-
Select designs may be adapted for production use.
JUDGING CRITERIA
Submissions will be evaluated based on:

Creativity & originality
-
Connection to the chosen queen
-
Stage readiness (can it actually work in performance)
-
Visual impact
-
Practicality of construction

Winners will receive:
